Bicycle Tour FAQ

Do I have to pay for my tour in advance?

Yes. In order to reserve your guide, your tour must be paid for in full. However, some international guests may have difficulty utilizing our online payment system.  If this happens, our tour manager will respond to your tour registration request within 24 hours and payment arrangements will be made.  For your convenience, you may cancel your tour within 24 hours for a full refund.

What should I bring?

Riders are advised to wear cycling or comfortable athletic attire during their ride. We do not provide cycling shoes, so please bring your own or wear comfortable athletic shoes.  We do have most common pedals systems available in our rental fleet. If we have a question about your pedals we will contact you.  We provide basic energy foods.  Please advise us if you have any dietary needs or requests.  In addition, we have a variety of energy bars and other performance foods available for purchase at our store. Water for the tour will be provided by McGhie's.

How far in advance should I book my tour?

We usually require at least 48 hours notice in order to arrange your tour with our guides. It is advised that you book your tour as soon as your travel dates are confirmed. Sometimes we are able to arrange tours on short notice, but please understand that we may not be able to accommodate you if you give us less than 48 hours notice.

How many people will be in my tour?

We do not mix tour groups. Your tour guide is focused 100% on you.  If you are booking your tour alone, it will be just you and your guide. If you are booking a group tour, only your group will be on the tour. We do this so that we can provide the best experience for you and your group. On a mountain bike tour of 5 or more riders we automatically add a second guide at no extra charge to assure the safety and enjoyment of our guests.  We are very experienced in accomodating groups with a variety of skill and fitness levels.

Where do we meet?

You will be picked up at your hotel/resort by your guide.  He or she will contact you the evening prior to your tour to confirm the details of your pick-up.

Where do we ride?

Well, that's entirely up to you and your group. Most road tours are conducted within the Red Rock National Conservation Area, but we tailor each ride to you.   All mountain tours are conducted in Cottonwood Valley near the town of Blue Diamond. With 125 miles of trails to choose from, your guide will choose the best trail for your individual needs. Every route is scenic so bring a camera!  If you prefer a different location, please contact the tour manager to discuss options. Click here to view videos and pictures submitted by our past guests.

How long do tours usually last?

Our average guest is comfortable with 2-3 hours of riding.  We are happy to accomodate riders with greater experience and fitness levels.  However, our guides are paid for an average ride of 3 hours.  If you choose to ride longer, please keep this in mind when calculating your gratuity.

I'm not sure what kind of pedals I use.

If you are not sure what kind of pedals you use, the tour manager will assist you in choosing the correct pedal system.

We have the following pedal systems available:

Platform      Toe Cages      Look Keo      Look Delta Classic      Speedplay Zero      Speedplay Light Action    Speedplay X Series      Shimano SPD-SL      Shimano SPD-MTB      Crank Brothers EggBeaters

Our tour guides use and maintain their own personal equipment at their own expense for our tours.

While gratuity is not neccesary, it is always appreciated.
