When you call, text or email for more information on McGhie’s biking or hiking tours, Amy is the one that answers the phone, returns the texts or replies with an email. She has been a guide for McGhie’s since 2006 and has managed communications and scheduling for the past six years. An accomplished rider on- and off-road, she is an excellent and patient instructor for new riders but likes to tear it up a bit, too. When not riding bikes, Amy plays and coaches hockey and can be found on the ice just about every day of the week.



Bob Sawyer is a lifelong road cyclist who discovered mountain biking when he moved to Las Vegas in 2014 from the Midwest. In a short time he has become an accomplished off-road rider to add to his road bike expertise. Bob is excellent at introducing new riders to the sport as well as showing our more experienced guests trails that are custom-tailored to their abilities. Bob has been guiding tours for McGhie’s since 2015.



When a mountain bike tour registration form comes through with comments like “epic, racing, technical,” Rich DeYoung is usually the guide we call on for that ride! Rich is retired from the US Air Force and has found the perfect second career. When he's not guiding mountain bike or road bike tours for McGhie’s, he is usually riding his bike, reading about bikes or planning his next cycling adventure. Rich has been guiding for McGhie’s since 2015.



Bobby Westmorland has been with McGhie’s as a guide from the beginning. and is a guest favorite He is an excellent teacher, coach, cheerleader, storyteller and riding partner. With a background in BMX, he has some mad skills on the bike and is able to tailor a ride to any experience level from beginner to expert. Bobby is a rare Las Vegas native and when he is not guiding tours for McGhie’s he might be hauling hay for his wife’s horses or working special events around the country for Cannondale Bicycle Company.



Chris Weaver is retired and has been living in las Vegas since 2014. He spends his free time rock scrambling, hiking, and camping in Red Rock NCA, the Mt. Charleston area, and the surrounding deserts, mountains and National Parks of the south west. Chris has been leading hikes for McGhies Ski, Bike and Board since 2017.



John Gonsalves is a retired professional photographer and a retired US Army veteran. Living in Las Vegas since 2011, he has become an avid hiker and rock scrambler in the beautiful Red Rock Canyon area. He now spends the majority of his time organizing and leading hikes in Red Rock Canyon NCA and the Mt. Charleston area for several of the most popular Meet-Up hiking groups in the area. John has been leading hikes for McGhies Ski, Bike and Board since 2014.



Dave Durham was born in Dalton, Georgia and joined the Army at age 18. After 21 years in the military, he became a registered nurse with a specialty in Emergency Medicine. He has been hiking in the Red Rock National Conservation Area for more than 5 years and has over 300 hikes there. He has been a tour guide for McGhie’s since 2015.


Depending on the Mojave Desert heat, we suggest an 8:30am pick-up during the cooler months. During the summer months, we will not pick-up guests later than 7:00am in order to ensure the safety of our guests and our guides.

All of our guided hiking tours occur within the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and our routes include: Calico Tanks, Ice Box Canyon, Pine Creek & Willow Springs, La Madre Springs, and Turtle Head Springs.

  • Trail hikes ranging from 3-6 miles and rock scrambling adventures averaging 2-3 miles with levels from moderate to strenuous (based on the active person).
  • Total tour time for hike is approximately 5 hrs., including travel time.
  • Minimum age for hikers is 10 yrs.old.
  • Hats, sunglasses & sunscreen are highly recommended!
  • Do not forget your camera!
  • Tour includes round-trip transportation from Las Vegas, snacks, water, the use of a pack and your fabulous hiking guide.


With a 24 hour notice, we will refund in full. McGhie’s will cancel a tour due to weather conditions or wind advisory.  If we are unable to reschedule the tour, we will issue a full refund. Our guests should not be penalized for a weather event.
